These workshops are run by trained professionals and are designed to be interactive. In order for the workshops to run effectively, your camera must be turned ON.

 

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for individuals living with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes as well as their family members and support persons. Participants can enroll in one or both workshops.

*Please Note: As Insulin Pumps are not currently covered for most individuals living with Type 2 Diabetes, Session 2 is most relevant to those living with Type 1 Diabetes

 

How long is the workshop?

2 sessions, 1.5 – 2 hours each

 

What topics will be covered?

Session 1 – Continuous Glucose Monitoring (for Type 1 & Type 2)
  • What is Continuous Glucose Monitoring?
  • What devices are available in Canada and how to use them
  • How to make sense of the results
  • How to access funding
Session 2 – Insulin Pumps (for Type 1)
  • What are Insulin Pumps and how do they work?
  • What devices are available in Canada and how to use them
  • What is the Assistive Device Program (ADP) and how to apply

 

What will I gain from attending this workshop?

  • Review and discuss available technology including continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pumps
  • Learn about associated costs, funding opportunities and steps to upgrade current devices
  • Learn how technology can help you self manage your diabetes
